The Julian Dark Sky Network is an organization whose mission is to preserve the dark skies of Julian, CA.
Our community is part of the 1% of the U.S. that can still see the Milky Way. Our distance from the urban glow of San Diego's skies and the surrounding mountains help with our sky quality, but preservation must be intentional. We support the goals of Dark Sky International, the recognized authority on light pollution. The organization promotes protection and preservation of the natural night sky for more reasons than will fit on the Home page, so we encourage you to learn more on their website. The Julian Dark Sky Network, therefore, is taking important steps to preserve this important component of our region’s natural habitat. |
